Restringing Service

Pearls of the Orient provides a restringing service.  It is recommended that pearls be restrung every 2 to 3 years unless they are well loved and need more frequent attention!

We provide a restringing service which includes knotting between pearls or not knotting on thread.  Pearls are often knotted in between for various reasons and include to absorb perspiration/dirt and to allow the pearls to sit nicely around the neck.  Valuable pearls should always be knotted as it enhances the beauty of each pearl and in the event that the necklace or bracelet should break, the likelihood of losing any pearls is minimised.

However with some styles or smaller pearls knotting every inch or not knotting at all achieves a more desirable effect.

We also provide a restringing service on tigertail which is more often used with semi-precious stones or beads.  Tigertail consists of many strands of steel wires coated with nylon which can withstand very heavy beads and can be more reliable than thread against sharp edges from stones or beads.  We recommend tigertail to be used with heavier beads or semi-precious stones even if they are strung with pearls.  Necklaces can still be twisted and lariats knotted even if strung on tigertail.

Please contact us directly in order for us to give you a quote for your restringing.  We will need to know the length of the necklace/bracelet and a rough idea of the size of the pearl.  Please ensure that the clasp is in good working order or alternatively, we can also provide quotes for new sterling silver or gold clasps.

Call us on 01483 205 820 or use the contact form for your quote.
